Just off the coast of Los Angeles the well known Island tourist destination is a less well known refuge of endemic species and living laboratory for native flora. We’ll discuss the natural history of the Island, early plant collectors and the highly anticipated publication of the Flora of Catalina Island. As well we’ll review the status of rare species and recent plant discoveries.
